The Litigation Support Specialist will support the Claims Division of the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals by providing a detailed analysis of every claim case presented for decision. This position requires skill in gathering and communicating significant and sensitive information orally and in writing to persons involved in the claims and waiver process. It requires the ability to plan, schedule, and conduct projects of varying complexity. Requires skills in utilizing a variety of complex data and computer software and equipment. Work will require knowledge of policies and procedures relating to the claims and waiver processes, as well as the ability to manage a large case load of claims and waivers and other work. Must be able to deploy resources to accomplish the mission in the quickest and most efficient manner possible. Candidate will be required to respond to telephone inquiries, verbally or in writing, in a highly professional manner. Some training will be provided.

 

The ideal candidate will have a pleasant demeanor and good attitude. Ability to grasp and assimilate knowledge that is given to him/her. Prior legal or security experience is a plus. Desired that candidate be able to respond to requests for information from Paralegals, Adjudicators, and Administrative Judges. Desired that candidate can proofread documents, produce error-free work and perform tasks autonomously.

 

Bachelor’s degree (additional experience may be substituted) and 4 years related experience required.

 

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship required.
